This family is a large group of approximately 400 species including peach, cherry, almond, and plum. They are alternative leaved, deciduous and evergreen shrubs and trees. They can range in size from ground covers to 80 foot-tall trees. Many are grown for their fruit or as ornamentals. Many of these species make wonderful jams and preserves.
